Introducing Surface Navigation for Kythera 2.0
Does your game have creatures that crawl along walls and ceilings? Meet Surface Navigation, the new feature in Kythera V2.3 that allows entities to move naturally on any surface.
Surface Navigation isn’t a small tweak, it’s a brand new movement system that’s been built from the ground up to handle the unique challenges of navigating on any surface and at any orientation. That means:
A brand new navmesh generation system. This moves us beyond limiting, floor-only tools like Recast, so Kythera can map any part of a level no matter their orientation.
Smarter route-finding. Our pathfinding understands these complex surface maps, so entities can plan sensible routes across walls and ceilings.
Smoother movement along paths. The path-following system includes settings for orientation and speed, so entities turn and slow down naturally when transitioning between very different surfaces.
